Well tomorrow is thursday! man, these weeks are just zooming by! :)
Amal's friend was going to go shopping with Amal's mother and herself, until her mom freaked out and didn't let her go. amal spazzes and thinks its unfair of her friends mom and she is saying some pretty nasty things bout her. ummm then the boy of her DrEaMs adam told her that he thinks she has guts for wearing the hijab. she just about has a meltdown. also she shares a story about how she wanted to get a dress that everyone else was wearing and she made her mom buy it even though she didnt' really need it.
" i insisted and she spent abuot one hundred dollars on an outfit. i felt so guilty that i'd made her fork out all that money that i decided to wear the dress anyway." ( page 99). I think this is a good example because this has deffinatly happened to me before where i will get something because everyone else has it...but i think i've grown away from that alot in highschool because no one really cares what you wear or do. What that quote meant is that all her friends planned on wearing a dress to some event and they all changed their mind without amal knowing, and they wore something completly different. So amal showed up dressing really really fancy, and everyone else were in over alls. I think it's moments like these that make us stronger..times when something is sooo embarrasing but you don't back down and just go along with it any way because- hey, it's who you are and your not willing to change yourself for someone.
